Black walnut (Juglans nigra) has been used in phytotherapy for thousands of years. Native Americans used the walnut bark for the topical treatment of various skin conditions and drank teas made from it as a mild laxative. They also chewed the bark for headaches. In modern phytotherapy, it is often used as an antifungal, antiparasitic, antiviral, choleretic, and laxative agent.

Description

The proposed innovative product includes a dry polysaccharide extract of Tremella fuciformis (extractant – purified water). It has been found that the polysaccharides of this mushroom significantly enhance the absorption of the water-soluble plant extract mixed with them and provide a more pronounced positive effect on the body.

  • Preparations made from black walnut have a rich nutritional composition—naphthoquinones, tannins, flavonoids (quercetin, luteolin, astragalin, avicularin, myricitrin), coumarins, water-soluble vitamins, carotenoids, terpenoids, organic acids (citric, malic), phenolcarboxylic acids, proteins, amino acids, nitrogenous bases, essential oil, lipids, macro- and microelements (phosphorus, manganese, magnesium, chromium, iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, copper, molybdenum, boron, fluorine, etc.). It is noted for a high iodine content, which imparts antiseptic properties and thyroid function-boosting properties to black walnut preparations.
  • It is an effective antiparasitic agent. Due to the high content of tannins and naphthoquinones (tannin and juglone), black walnut can affect both adult helminths and larval stages of parasites in the body. Its laxative and choleretic effects help to quickly expel helminths and their metabolic products from the body.
  • Black walnut contains bitterness that increases appetite and stimulates the secretion of digestive glands. It has a pronounced choleretic effect and is useful in cholestasis. It stimulates peristalsis, helps to relieve colic, heartburn, and flatulence.
  • Juglone, contained in black walnut, is a natural antibiotic and has antibacterial and antifungal effects on many infections, including strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and fungi of the genus Candida albicans.
